About Yana Ricart

Yana holds a Masters Degree in Social Sciences (Counselling) from the University of South Australia.  She has a Diploma in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Counselling Skills. She is a Master Solution Focused Practitioner and a Certified Advanced Solution-Focused Coach. She holds a Graduate and Post Graduate Certificate in Expressive Therapies, as well as a Certificate in Sandplay Therapy. She is also trained in Attachment Focused EMDR by the Parnell Institute.

Yana has significant experience working with children and adolescents.  She also has extensive experience in providing counselling in multiple languages to adults.  She has dealt with issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, stress management, cultural adjustment, life transitions, grief and loss, childhood and recent trauma, etc. Her focus is helping her clients to process emotions that are blocking their journeys and to get in touch with their own strengths and resilience, in order to better face future challenges of their lives.

Originally from Latin America, Yana has spent more than three decades in Asia (Singapore and Japan).  She can provide counselling in English, Spanish and Japanese (also understands Portuguese and French). Her multi-cultural background and experiences allows her to empathize with clients from different cultures.

In her psychotherapeutic work, Yana integrates various trauma informed and strength-based approaches including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Expressive Therapies, Mindfulness Based Family Constellations, Mindfulness Based CBT and Attachment-Focused EMDR, depending on the individual needs of clients. Yana also has a Diploma in Yoga Teaching and a background in dance and dance therapy, which allows her to include relaxation and visualization techniques together with body awareness and movement into her practice.
